Unfortunately, we’re not accomplishing as much as I’d like for our November goals. I haven’t had time to sit down and read anything, and the house hunting/saving has put a hold on date nights. Hopefully once the dust settles, we’ll be able to catch up.
We have been successful at a couple items though!
First, we started the online marriage counseling. We’ve done the first of eight sessions, and I think it really did help us open up a little about what we each need out of this. We’ve never had this kind of conversation before, so it was nice to have some guidance on expressing why we need certain things and where we feel we currently stand with those needs. It gave us a chance to air out some stuff that’s been bothering us, and talk about how we can change those things in the future. I’m looking forward to the next session, and hope it continues to help us move forward together.
Second, we started setting up our bridal registry! Saturday we went to Macy’s and spent FOUR HOURS scanning appliances, Fiesta Ware, and pots and pans. We looked at a few bedding sets, but we weren’t thrilled with the selection, or the $900 price tags. We decided we would look for that and bathroom stuff at Bed Bath and Beyond. We went there on Tuesday night, but at that point we didn’t know the status on the house, and we were having a really hard time choosing bathroom colors without knowing what bathroom it would be going into. After roaming around aimlessly for an hour, we both agreed it made more sense to wait to hear on the house, and come back once we know where we’ll be living.
We’re excited to keep going with this Remember Love resolution. We both agree we have some stuff to work on, and hopefully by the end of November we’ll be closer to finding our middle ground.
