Today I’m participating in the 20SB Blog Swap! That means Nichole is here, and I am over on her blog! Obviously we have a mutual love for dashboard, which I think makes us instant friends :) Be sure to check out both of our summertime posts!

hello – my name is nichole, i blog over at the story of a girl – lindsey and i are swapping blogs today with a group of other people from 20sb! make sure you go check her post out!  summer is my absolute favorite season, i love everything about longer days, warmer weather, flip flops and slurpees.   hope y’all enjoy my post about what my husband and i have been up to this summer.

{dashboard confessional – so long sweet summer}

this morning was the first sign that summer is coming to an end.  the temperature was cool, so cool in fact that i had to grab some more blankets to keep warm.  soon it will be getting dark earlier, i’ll be trading in my flip flops for some flats, and we’ll once again enter a new season.

in previous years, i’ve made a list of my “rules for summer” which included things i wanted to accomplish, events i wanted to go to, how i’d like to spend my birthday.  this year, however, i only had one…spend as much time outside as possible.

summer weather is short lived here in reno, nv – especially this year.  we had snow into june, and as stated above, the weather is already starting to cool off.  i wanted to make the best of my summer by doing what i love most, being outside in the warm weather.  and, i am pretty sure we did just that.  last summer was full of friends weddings, wedding planning, and overall being rushed by daylight, this summer was quite the opposite.  we spent lazy days on the beach at lake tahoe, had dinner outside on our patio, went on plenty of walks, hikes, and bike rides.  we’ve spent days at the pool, nights at the drive in, barbeques with our families, time working on the front and back yard, and i’ve even started eating lunch outside at work.  i truly made happen exactly what i wanted to do, without all the planning, without all the stressing over making things perfect, without knowing every detail – i let it be and got outside.

this has been the most amazing summer, full of memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.  i’d encourage y’all to make “rules for summer” (or fall/winter/springs) its a great way to take what you’d like to do and make it a reality.
