What I learned in Vegas

May 26, 2010

in BiSC, Growing Up

I’ve spent the past three days trying desperately to put my Vegas memories into words. I considered waiting longer to really get this all out there, but I’m afraid I’ll forget the important things. Instead, since I’m not a writer, and don’t pretend to be, I’m going to make this easy on all of us. Bullets anyone?

In no particular order, here is what I learned on my adventure with 69 bloggers in the City of Sin:

  • I learned that @nicoleisbetter is the most amazing planner/host/dead hooker of all time. And she’s a pretty freaking awesome friend on top of all of that. I love her to death.
  • I learned that @doniree just may be my soulmate, and I don’t know how I spent 25 years of life without her!
  • I learned what a great friend @pixie658 is, and can’t thank her enough for helping me deal with my lost luggage after only knowing me five minutes!
  • I learned that everything is bigger in Vegas. Especially 32oz coconut rum and pineapple juices at 8AM.
  • I learned that my alcohol tolerance is much higher than I give myself credit for. I mean, really, four of the above mentioned drinks should have had me on the floor.
  • I learned that flamingos do in fact have two legs! @mominreallife and I can show you what they do with the extra one!
  • I learned that bagels are for losers. We’re too good for those, right @jamievaron??
  • I learned how to swear like a truck-driver
  • I learned that @stratejoy is the best listener ever, even for someone who rambles on as much as I do!
  • I learned that bathrooms with TVs in the mirrors top all other bathrooms.
  • I learned that @jenny_blake has the most smoking hot body I’ve ever seen, and I’d probably break up with Justin for her.
  • I learned some awesome sex stories, especially from @ihatesomuch!
  • I learned that I need to take more pictures
  • I learned that the Bellagio fountains stop flowing before midnight :(
  • I learned that snapping stripper cards at me somehow makes me want them more than if you’re just handing them to me straight.
  • I learned that @manderzmusings knows how to REALLY dress the part of an office ho!

Most importantly though, above all else, I learned a little more about who I am and who I want to be. I learned that I can’t be afraid to go out on my own and meet new people and take risks. If I let myself be paranoid of everything, life will pass me by. I learned that it’s possible to feel closer to someone you’ve know less than 24 hours, than someone you’ve known your whole life. And best of all, I learned that there is a group of amazing people in  this world who accept and love me for exactly who I am, who I’ll never have to pretend for, and who will each have a special place in my heart for eternity.

Doni told me that if I came to this with an open heart, the weekend would be epic. I took her advice and came home with a whole new outlook. So thank you, each of you, for being part of an experience that has changed my life like I never thought possible!

Bagels? No, no. We need more of the rum and of the pineapple and of the Rey.

Am I retarded for not understanding what REY means?

Rey was the bartender in the cabana at the pool – you know, the one with the million and three dollar smile? Yeah, Rey.

Ahh!!! Yes, I’m definitely retarded for not remembering that. He made the best drinks in the world, and his “fuck me” smile certainly made them taste even better!

Glad you had a blast! I knew you would.

It helped that it all started with a giant bear hug from YOU!

I think the whole entire blogging experience is better enjoyed with an open heart. Vegas was epic for me last year and changed my entire outlook on life. I’m glad it did the same for you :) Hopefully someday we can meet!

I definitely would LOVE to meet you! We will have to find a time before next year’s Vegas trip, though, cuz I don’t want to wait that long!

Once you join the dead hooker swat team, there’s no going back. Not even with an Eiffel Tower full of alcohol. :)

I can’t believe I didn’t mention either of those things in my post. I may just have to write a follow up with everything I forgot!

I am so, so glad that you made the jump to come to Vegas, and I’m so glad to know you better. Open heart – that’s my motto a lot of the time and I’ve found that that’s the ticket for some of the best relationships and experiences out there. Love you to the moon, and can’t wait to see you in Boulder!

Open Heart – that’s what’s going to keep me going through any crappy stuff from now on! As inspiring as you are on the internet, in person you’re incredible. I can’t freaking wait to spend more time getting to know you even better! I seriously can’t express what having you in my life means to me.

I’m taking total credit for all of your fun and getting you to Vegas even though I really had nothing to do with it but whatever.

You can take credit for my $10 win at the Roulette table!! But otherwise, you hid from me way too much, and for that I am sad.

Office hos was the best idea ever. So glad you suggested it. I never knew my boobs could look so big – and Jason certainly appreciated it when I got home. :-p

Can’t wait to do Joy Equation with you. Especially since I’ve met you.

Yeah that Bellagio fountain thing was disappointing. I really think the winds factored into that. For real.

I will seriously never look at flamingos (or 6 AM without booze) the same way again.

Not sure where you found time to sleep. But then again it was Vegas where sleep is little or optional altogether.
